Pada tanggal 24 Desember 2029—hari yang dalam bahasa sehari-hari dikenal sebagai "Natal yang Hilang"—Virus Kiamat menyebar ke seluruh Jepang, membawa kematian bagi warganya dan menjerumuskan negara ke dalam kekacauan total. Dalam upaya menegakkan ketertiban, Perserikatan Bangsa-Bangsa mengirimkan GHQ untuk membantu krisis dengan menahan wabah sambil menghapus semua otonomi politik dalam prosesnya. Satu dekade kemudian, negara itu masih hidup di bawah kendali mereka, tidak dapat melepaskan diri dari aturan kejam mereka.Frustrasi dengan keadaan bangsa, sebuah kelompok perlawanan bernama Parlour Pemakaman bertujuan untuk membebaskan Jepang dari GHQ. Dipimpin oleh Gai Tsutsugami yang karismatik, kelompok tersebut berencana untuk mencuri botol berisi "Void Genome" untuk mencapai tujuan mereka. Botol itu jatuh ke tangan vokalis internet Inori Yuzuriha, yang akhirnya diburu oleh pasukan Anti-Badan GHQ. Karena tidak punya tempat tujuan, dia mencari perlindungan di gudang tempat dia bertemu Shuu Ouma — seorang siswa sekolah menengah yang canggung secara sosial yang merupakan penggemar berat musiknya.Shuu terseret ke dalam konflik saat dia menyelamatkan Inori, dan Void Genome hancur di tangannya, memberinya "Kekuatan Para Raja".
